Webinar Event - Protection of Service & Other Penetrations (Passive Fire)

About this Event 22 September 2021 

This webinar event will detail the requirements for protection of service and other penetrations (Passive Fire) for commercial style buildings (BCA Class 2 to 9).  

A practical approach will be deployed for this webinar in two parts,
Part 1 - Application of the Building Code of Australia Vol. 1 and applicable Australian Standards and testing regimes.
Part 2 Installation and Inspections.  What to look for when conducting passive fire inspections highlighting the technicalities and application of the NCC when on site. 

This training session is aimed at new entrants who have only a basic knowledge of inspecting, or for experienced building surveying professionals who need a refresher when inspecting commercial buildings with an emphasis on light weight construction and protection of service penetrations.  

This training will include.

  • BCA, passive firestopping performance requirements, DTS, Specifications, schedules etc.
  • Australian standards, AS 1530.4, AS 4072.1 etc.
  • Substrates, details, junctions, fixings, sealants etc.
  • Openings in fire rated wall and floor systems (service penetrations & construction joints), methods of protection, testing methods, details, common pitfalls, what to look for etc, Passive Fire Inspections

About the Speakers

Hani Adnan is the current Codes & Approvals Manager for Fire protection at Hilti Australia. Hani is a qualified mechanical engineer, fire protection specialist with more than 17 years of experience in the construction industry in areas related to passive firestopping code developments, installations, and inspections methods. Hani is (IFC) international firestop council certified perimeter fire barrier inspection expert. Some of Hani’s roles have involved being a Fire protection specialist for Hilti middle-east, Turkey, Head of Engineering & Codes and Approvals Manager in Hilti Dubai-UAE , where he has contributed to the development of the codes and other industry requirements for passive firestopping systems at these regions.

Rick Chan is the current Area Manager Energy & Industry-East at Hilti Australia. Rick is a qualified mechanical engineer, fire protection specialist with more than 10 years of experience in the construction industry in areas related to passive firestopping product’s management, business development, testing and approvals. Some of Rick’s roles have involved being a Fire stop engineer at Hilti Hong Kong, Product manager for fire protection at Hilti China, Fire protection specialist and team leader at Hilti Australia where he has contributed widely in the testing and launching of many new innovative firestopping solutions and services to the Australian Market and end users.

Important Event Terms & Conditions

Registration & Cancellation Policy Payment Terms
  • All outstanding invoices must be paid before registering your attendance for any AIBS events. If you are unsure, please contact the AIBS office to confirm.
  • All registrations are for a single delegate for the entire day, no individual session registrations accepted.
  • CPD points will only be awarded to the registered delegate.
  • Full event registrations cannot be split for different delegates on different days.
  • Day registrations cannot be split for different delegates on different sessions.

Refunds will be provided for cancellation as follows:

  • More than 30 days before the first day of the event - full refund
  • Between 7 and 30 days before the first day of the event - 50% refund
  • Less than 7 days before the first day of the event - no refund.
  • All registrations are confirmed upon completion of registration via the AIBS online registration system. 
  • All invoices will generate a payment term of 14 days from the date of registration however, please note that payment for a registration must be made prior to attending.
  • In the circumstance where payment cannot be made prior to the event, please contact events@aibs.com.au as soon as possible to notify.
  • Any cancellation of a registration for AIBS events must be made in writing to events@aibs.com.au
  • A failure to make payment in accordance with the above terms will not be accepted as a valid cancellation.
  • 'No Show's - not showing up to an event does not cancel an existing invoice and therefore, must be paid. 

AIBS Attendance Certificate 

Please note that you will not recieve an attendance certificate for this event. AIBS record your attendance at any of our face to face training events, webinars or AIBSTV. 

When preparing your AIBS CPD Return, you are not required to provide a certificare of attendance for AIBS events, as your attendnace is already recorded by our staff.  When completing your return please not the date and name of the event, and AIBS staff will verify your attendance. This will save you having to fund and collate your attendance certificates over your CPD year,. 

Please note that for non-AIBS events your evidence of attendance is required. 

However, if you would prefer to recieved a certificate of attendance please email  events@aibs.com.au and your certificate will be sent via email. If you have any questions regarding your CPD Attendnace Certificate please either call the AIBS office on 1300 312 427 or email events@aibs.com.au
