Webinar Event | Compartmentation & Separation - How to determine - A Building Surveyors Perspective

About this Event 13 October 2021

AIBS have teamed with Ari Akritidis to provide you with this training webinar event on all things to do with Compartmentation and Separation, what to review, assess and look for when conducting critical stage inspections.  Following on from previous presentations on passive fire inspections, this webinar training event will review the full compartmentation and separation requirements under Part C of Vol. 1 of the Building Code of Australia.

Areas to be covered will include:

  • Purpose and intent of BCA requirements for fire separation and compartmentation
  • Importance of BCA Definitions - What constitutes a BCA defined complying ‘Fire Wall’ as compared to a wall with an FRL?
  • Vertical and Horizontal fire compartmentation and separation between parts of a building with a different classification
  • BCA DTS objectives regarding external fire rated walls designed to collapse inwards
  • General floor limitations and vertical separation requirements.
  • Building regulations regarding inspections (purpose and intent of inspections, what requires inspection, sample or absolute, skills and competency of inspectors etc).
  • Openings in fire rated wall and floor systems (doors, windows and service penetrations), methods of protection and common pitfalls.

This webinar is suitable for building surveyors who are new to the industry, or building surveyors looking to expand into commercial assessments through to the seasoned building surveyor needing a refresher on compartmentation and separation under Part C of the BCA.
