With the aftermath of the 2019/2020 bushfire season now realised, what have we learnt from this experience and how is our bushfire legislation responding?

AIBS has teamed up with Colin Wood to provide you with findings on the bushfire losses emanating from the 2019/2020 bushfires, including what worked well and what needs more attention.  The Standards Committee has also been busy working on the review of AS3959 including a new and exciting project that is underway to develop a Maintenance Guideline to assist home-owners.

Colin Wood has been the AIBS National representative on AS3959 since 1995 and he is currently the Chair of the Construction sub-committee.  He also lectures in Building in Bushfire Prone Areas at Western Sydney University.  He is keen to provide members with an update on legislation in this space.  

This webinar will include the following;

  • What have we learnt from the 2019/2020 bushfires
  • How did AS 3959 stack up 
  • Changes to AS 3959 earmarked for Amendment 1 & 2
  • What changes have been earmarked by the Standards Committee for review and what further documents are being developed.

Please note that you will not receive an attendance certificate for this event. AIBS record your attendance at any of our face to face training events, webinars or AIBSTV. 

When preparing your AIBS CPD Return, you are not required to provide a certificate of attendance at AIBS events, as your attendance is already recorded by our staff. 
When completing your return please note the date and name of the event, and AIBS staff will verify your attendance. This will save you having to find and collate your attendance certificates over your CPD year.

Please note that for non-AIBS events you evidence of attendance will be required. ,

However, if you would prefer to receive a certificate of attendance please email training@aibs.com.au and your certificate will be sent via email.

Cancellation Policy: Refunds for registrations should be provided in writing to training@aibs.com.au as outlined below and calculated from the first day of training:
 More than 30 days - Full refund
 Between 7 and 30 days - 50% refund
 Less than 7 days - No refund

Participants may transfer their registration to another training session up to one (1) working day prior to the commencement of the training day without loss of funds.

Payment Policy: Payment is required PRIOR to attending the event.
  • All registrations are confirmed upon completion of registration and issue of an invoice
  • Payment terms on all invoices are the earlier of 14 days from the date of invoice, or prior to the first day of the event (where registration is completed and invoice issued less than 14 days from the first day of the event).
  • Payment can be made via credit card through the online portal or by phoning the AIBS office on 1300 312 427 Monday-Thursday 8:30am - 4:30pm (AEST)
  • Any cancellation of registrations for seminars must be made in writing to training@aibs.com.au. Non-attendance at an event without written notice will not be accepted as a valid cancellation. 
  • A failure to make payment in accordance with the above terms will not be accepted as a valid cancellation.
