Designed for both new entrants with basic knowledge of building inspection and seasoned professionals seeking a refresher, this training will focus on the specifics of residential timber-framed construction. 

The event will cover:

Timber Frame and Trusses:
Detailed review of the assessment and certification process for timber members under construction, addressing:

  • AS 1684 – Acceptable construction manual, including limitations, bracing, tie-downs, timber specifications, and fitness for purpose.
  • Truss Standards:
    AS 1720.5 – Design
    AS 4446 – Manufacture
    AS 4440 – Installation
    AS 4055 – Wind loading for housing
  • Examples of installed trusses that fail to meet these critical standards.

About Your Presenter: Adam Dawson

Adam Dawson is the Engineering & Builder Solutions Manager for Pryda and a chartered structural engineer. He has a diverse construction background across many industries and countries, ranging from major resources projects in Singapore, the Middle East and Papua New Guinea to high rise construction, major civil infrastructure, and most recently residential timber-framed building, where he has worked since 2020.

AIBS Attendance Certificate 

Please note that you will not automatically receive an attendance certificate for this event. AIBS does record your attendance at any of our face to face training events, webinars or AIBSTV. 

When preparing your AIBS CPD Return, you are not required to provide a certificate of attendance for AIBS events, as your attendance is already recorded by our staff.  When completing your CPD return please note the date and name of the event, and AIBS staff will verify your attendance against our records. This will save you having to find and collate your attendance certificates over your CPD year. Please note that for non-AIBS events your evidence of attendance is required.

However, if you need a certificate of attendance for your own records, please email events@aibs.com.au and your certificate will be sent via email.
